نقش مواد معدنی در تولید مثل
پتاسیم
از جمله فعالیت های پتاسیم شامل نقش در بنیان اسید های چرب ، فشار اسموتیک، حفظ غلظت آب در بدن است . میزان بالای پتاسیم بخصوص در چرای آزاد موجب عدم جذب منیزیم و ایجاد مشکلات متابولیکی می گردد.
در سایر گزارشات به کاهش میزان باروری در گاوهایی که با سطوح بالای پتاسیم و یا جیره ای فقیر از لحاظ پتاسیم-سدیم تغذیه شده بودند اشاره گردیده است.
کلر و سدیم
این دو عنصر جهت تنظیم تعادل الکترولیتی بسیار ضروری اند. سدیم در جذب قند و پروتئین از مواد قابل هضم نیز نقش دارد. کمبود این نمک ها به طور مستقیم بر میزان هضم و به طور غیر مستقیم بر تولید مثل تاثیر می گذارد.
در نهایت در می یابیم تاثیرات مواد معدنی در جیره با توجه به میزان جذب سطوح معدنی ، پایه فیزیولوژیکی حیوان و منبع مورد استفاده متفاوت است. به نظر می رسد هنگامی که مواد معدنی با منابع ارگانیکی نظیر آمینو اسیدها باند می شوند جذب بهتری خواهند داشت.
به طور کل مواد معدنی برای فعالیت های بدن و باروری بسیار ضروری اند. گرچه ممکن است اثرات کمبود مواد مغذی در حیوانات تا چندین ماه فاقد علایم بالینی باشد . اما با قطع مواد معدنی به طور قطع شاهد اثرات کاهنده بر تولید شیر و تولید مثل خواهیم بود.
